"Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." I agree wholeheartedly that it is the dedication of a lifetime that defines true patriotism.

VFW Auxiliary 4309 recently held a fundraiser to help support our local WNC Military History Museum. For the entire month of May, members of the Auxiliary, the Post, the Transylvania Honor Guard, and friends of the VFW emptied their pockets of loose change filling more than a dozen coin banks.
Once all the banks were turned in and the money totaled, a group of VFW and Auxiliary members got together on July 13, 2018 and presented the curator, Emmett Casciato, with a check for $555.00. It came as a complete surprise to Mr. Casciato who truly was moved by the thoughtfulness of all who participated in supporting the museum.
