Buddy Poppy / VFW National Home program explanation:
The purpose of the Buddy Poppy Program is to "Honor the Dead, by Helping the Living". This is done by distributing Buddy Poppies within our communities and collecting monetary donations which are used locally to aid Veterans, Active Duty Military, and their families who are in need. The Buddy Poppy aids in raising awareness of Veteran issues to the general public within our surrounding communities. The donations raised continue to allow the Auxiliary to fulfill their mission by aiding Veterans, Active Duty Military, and their families.
. • Buddy Poppy - Since 1918, this small red flower, inspired by the poem In Flanders Field has been adopted by veterans’ organizations around the world as a reminder of what our veterans have sacrificed. Donations raised from the distribution of these flowers are used solely for the purpose of helping veterans in need.
The purpose of the VFW National Home for Children is to promote/educate our members and the public of the National Homes Commitment to honor Veterans and Active Duty Military by providing assistance to their families. Our biggest quest is to promote the VFW National Home's Military & Veteran Family Helpline and to send monetary donations to continue providing for those families.
